Winter Park is aptly named indeed, as it has more parkspace than any other city in the Sunshine State. The city has ten extensive parks, including the Cady Way Park which is the trailhead for the three-and-a-half-mile Cady Way Trail.
Central Park is the most well-known one in the system. At 11 acres, it’s not the biggest, but as its name implies, it’s located right in the very heart of things. Beautifully landscaped, it’s bedecked with sparkling fountains and a rose garden on the south side. One of its best features is the line of lofty oaks festooned with Spanish moss that form a natural canopy overhead.
Larger parks include Mead and Ward. The former measures 55 acres and has a butterfly garden, an amphitheater, a bike trail and preserved natural habitats. The latter sprawls over 58 acres and most of this space is made up of sports facilities like ball fields, a football/track stadium and a handicapped-accessible playground.
