Heathrow FL Realty
How Heathrow Came To BeThe land where Heathrow now sits was, like a lot of other places in Florida, employed in the cultivation of oranges. Rows upon rows of fragrant orange trees once grew in the area where custom homes and golf courses now sprawl, and boxes of the fruit used to make their way to markets across the globe.
In 1884, after the South Florida Railroad laid down the tracks that would link the communities in the area to Sanford and, ultimately, the rest of the world, oranges became the basis of the economy of most of the counties in Central Florida. In fact, Seminole County would continue to grow and export the fruit in abundance well into the 1980s.
The 1950s and ‘70s would irrevocably change the way of life in the Heathrow area. The advent of the Martin Marietta Corporation’s aerospace factory and Disney World in Orange County triggered a shift towards tourism and industry that would affect the neighboring Seminole County and has made it what it is today.
Heathrow, FL realty wouldn’t exist as such if not for the efforts of food industry entrepreneur Jeno Paulucci. Along with his family, the renowned tycoon and philanthropist (founder of Sanford-based Luigino’s, Inc.) spearheaded the development of Heathrow in 1985. Now the community is smack dab in the middle of the state’s fastest growing region, which further cements Paulucci’s reputation as a visionary. Heathrow, FL realty is now some of the hottest property in the Sunshine State.
